  • When first lighting your candle, be sure to allow the candle to burn long enough so the wax pools meet the edges. Another way is the foil method — wrap a piece of tin foil around the container from the bottom, leaving an opening at the top, then burn with caution until the wax levels out.

  • Scoop out any big remaining pieces of wax and then soak your containers in hot or boiling water. Use soap and water to wash the remaining soy wax off and use the containers as you wish! You may need to scrape off the wick sticker.

  • Paraffin is a petroleum waste product that has to be deodorized and chemically bleached to be made into wax. When paraffin candles are burned, they release harmful by-products such as carbon dioxide. The petro soot that emanates from paraffin wax candles leaves a blackened hue coating the surrounding environment and can also irritate the lungs.

In comparison, soy wax is a natural, renewable resource. It is biodegradable and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. Soy candles do not emit petro soot, and they burn slower and longer than paraffin candles because they have a lower melting point.
